Who are we?
Set up in October 2002 after much enthusing & discussion, the woodland Co-op Ltd is a non-profit making organization (currently 5 founder members) whose goal is to buy and lease land to be used for sustainable projects such as organic vegetable growing, green woodworking, coppicing, planting orchards etc. We obtained 24 acres of mixed pasture / woodland in December 2003 and have so far planted 2500 deciduous trees & shrubs.
Situated in Carmarthenshire 2 miles east of Ferryside on the Towy estuary on the Llandyfaelog road, Coed Panteg is a parcel of ex-farmland.
What are we doing?
We have planted more woodland and will implement coppice rotation to increase & improve existing biodiversity with the aid of the Forestry Commission and lots of volunteer help.
A further 3 acres of coppice have been planted to complement the existing woodland (½ acre which was coppiced this February). A mixture of trees and shrubs are included: Oak, Ash, Sweet Chestnut, Hazel, Field Maple, Hawthorn, plus others.
